Scharnhorst did not recieve an enclosed bridge until 1943! until after their famous Channel Dash! Below is Scharnhorst as she apeared during the Channel Dash in 1942, and to the right, how she apeared in 1943. below are two images of Gneisenau the one on the left is as she apeared in 1939, the left is how she apeared in 1941. First i would like to point out that Gneisenau was the first to recieve and enclosed bridge in 1940. , join me as i go over each with a fine toothed comb to find out.Whats the difference?Īs usual lets start with the bridge. This is because while the first ship of the class is built and on sea trials, notes are taken and improvements are made to the design of the next ship(s) in the class, or sometime the designers include slight differences in armament, armor or other details just to see which offers the superior performance. Usually sister ships are similar looking, but they are rarely identical. I'll start with the Scharnhorst and Gneisenau. So today your going to get a whole bunch of em instead of an ADLA. So it turns out i really enjoy doin these.
